How to Get an Airport Internship in India (2026 Complete Guide)

11 min read20 June 2026·By Elite World Services

Everything you need to know to land an airport internship in India — from eligibility and documents to stipend expectations and what the first day actually looks like.

Landing an airport internship in India is one of the fastest ways to break into the aviation industry — but most students have no idea where to start. This guide walks you through every step: who qualifies, how to apply, what documents you need, and what to expect on day one.

Why an Airport Internship?

India's aviation sector is one of the fastest-growing in the world. The country's Ministry of Civil Aviation projects India will become the third-largest aviation market globally by 2030. That means demand for trained, experienced ground staff, hospitality professionals, and airport operations personnel is only going up.

An airport internship gives you hands-on experience no classroom can replicate — real passengers, real pressure, real skills. Students who complete structured airport internships consistently report faster hiring timelines and stronger starting salaries compared to peers with only academic credentials.

Who Is Eligible?

Most structured airport internship programmes in India look for the following:

  • Education: Currently enrolled in BBA Aviation, MBA Aviation, B.Sc. Aviation, Hotel Management, or related programmes at a recognised university
  • Age: 18 years or above at the time of internship start
  • Communication: Comfortable in English (spoken and written); Hindi is a plus
  • Appearance: Groomed and professional — airports maintain strict appearance standards
  • Medical: Medically fit (no conditions that restrict standing or walking for extended periods)

InternAVIA specifically works with university students enrolled in aviation and hospitality programmes. If your university has signed an MOU with EWS, your fees may be waived — check with your placement cell.

Step-by-Step: How to Apply

Step 1 — Create Your Profile

Register at internavia.ews.aero. Fill in your complete academic details, programme name, university, CGPA, and contact information. An incomplete profile will delay your application.

Step 2 — Select Your Preferred Airport Cities

InternAVIA operates across 67+ airports in India. During the application process, you select which cities you are available for. Selecting more cities increases your chances of an early placement.

Step 3 — Upload Your Documents

You will need to upload your Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport-size photograph, and medical fitness certificate. These are verified by the EWS operations team before your placement is confirmed.

Step 4 — Await Your Offer Letter

Once your application is reviewed and an airport slot is available in your preferred cities, InternAVIA issues your official Offer Letter via email and on your dashboard. This letter contains your airport location, reporting date, supervisor details, and stipend terms.

Step 5 — Report on Day 1

Arrive at the designated facility — usually the airport's hospitality lounge or ground services terminal — in professional attire. You will receive a site induction, meet your supervisor, and be assigned to your first week's duties.

What Airports Are Covered?

InternAVIA places students across major Indian airports including Delhi IGI, Mumbai CSIA, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Goa, Jaipur, and more. The exact airport depends on availability when you apply.

How Long Does the Internship Last?

Programmes run for either 3 months or 6 months. University students on campus drive placements typically start with the programme duration specified in their university's MOU. Walk-in students can choose their duration based on availability.

What About Probation?

The first 30 days are a probation period. During this window, either the intern or the host organisation can exit with no penalty — you receive pro-rata stipend for the days worked. After probation, a 14-day notice period applies on either side.

Will You Get a Certificate?

Yes. On completion of your internship, InternAVIA issues a digitally signed certificate from Elite World Services Limited. Your supervisor also submits a 5-dimension performance rating (technical skills, soft skills, professionalism, teamwork, overall rating) which is attached to your record — and visible to employers who browse the InternAVIA platform.

What Happens After the Internship?

Completing an InternAVIA internship connects you directly to a network of aviation employers. Your performance rating is viewable by subscribed airport operators and aviation companies on the platform, giving you a head start in the hiring process.
