    Choose a course and enrol

Choose a course. Read the course page first. It lists the syllabus, the study time, the assessment rules, the price and what the certificate confirms.

Create your account. Enrol with your name and an email address. Your name is what will print on your certificate, so enter it as you want it to appear.

    What you need

    • A phone, tablet or computer with a web browser
    • An internet connection (lessons are text and diagrams, so a slow connection is enough)
    • An email address
    • Basic English reading
  2. Leg 02
A young woman with earphones smiling as she reads on her phone in an airport terminal, an aircraft parked outside the window
    Climb

    Study lesson by lesson

Study lesson by lesson. Each lesson is a short illustrated page. It ends with one check question and a short written activity. A lesson counts as complete when both are done.

Aviation Foundations has 18 lessons across 6 modules, and you can read them on a phone wherever you are.

    Inside a lesson

    What a lesson looks like

Lessons are written to be read in about ten minutes.

    1. A clear objective

One sentence at the top says what you will be able to do by the end.

    2. Explanation and diagram

Short paragraphs in plain English, with an original diagram or worked example. No video.

    3. Check and activity

One question with feedback, and a short written activity with a model answer shown after you save yours.

    4. Sources

The public references the lesson draws on, such as ICAO and national aviation authorities, so you can read further.

Lesson complete: check question and activity both done

  3. Leg 03
Hands answering a multiple-choice quiz on a tablet at a desk, with a notebook, a pencil and a model aircraft beside it
    Cruise

    Leg 3 Cruise

    Practise after every module

Practise after every module. A practice quiz closes each module. You can retry it as often as you like, and every answer comes with an explanation.

    Practice quiz · example question

Which part of an airport lies beyond the security checkpoint?

    • Landside
    • Airside (chosen, correct)

Why: Airside is the area past security screening. Landside is the public side of the terminal.

Practice quizzes do not limit your tries

  4. Leg 04
A student in a green jumper working on a laptop at a table by an apron window, a notebook beside her and an aircraft outside

Time and access

Aviation Foundations takes about 6 hours. You have 30 days from enrolment; we suggest spreading it over 7 days. Your progress is saved to your account. If something stops you finishing in time, ask support for an extension.

Retakes

If you do not pass the final assessment, you can retake it. You have 3 attempts in total, with a one-hour break between them so you can revise.

Your own work

The assessment is individual work. You may use your own notes. AVIA, our AI guide, is switched off inside courses, quizzes and assessments so that your result is your own. You can ask it questions before or after you study.

Help and access arrangements

Enrolled learners can open a support request from My learning for technical problems, extra time, name corrections or appeals. You can also email aviation@ews.aero (Mon–Sat, 10am–6pm IST).
