Why Airport Internships Require More Documents Than Regular Internships
Airports are security-sensitive environments. Every person who accesses certain areas of an airport — including internship staff — must be verified and cleared. Your documents are not just administrative; they are security requirements. Missing even one can delay your start by days or weeks.
The Complete Document Checklist
1. Aadhaar Card (Mandatory)
Why required: Primary government-issued identity proof. Also required for stipend disbursement under PM Internship Scheme via Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
Format: Colour photocopy of both sides. Must be clearly legible — blurry copies are rejected.
Common mistake: Submitting an e-Aadhaar without a masked Aadhaar option. The full 12-digit number must be visible on the copy submitted to InternAVIA.
2. PAN Card (Mandatory)
Why required: Required for tax compliance on stipend payments and financial verification.
Format: Colour photocopy, clear and undamaged.
Don't have a PAN card yet? Apply online at incometax.gov.in — processing typically takes 10–15 working days. Apply well before your internship start date.
3. Passport-Size Photograph (Mandatory)
Why required: For your airport ID/access pass — typically issued for back-of-house areas. Different from a photograph on your profile.
Format: Recent (taken within 3 months), white or light blue background, formal attire, no cap or sunglasses. Size: 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm (standard passport size).
How many: Submit at least 4 copies. Airport operations often require multiple passes for different areas.
4. Medical Fitness Certificate (Mandatory)
Why required: Airport internships involve extended standing, walking, and in some cases physical assistance to passengers. A fitness certificate from a registered MBBS doctor confirms you are physically fit for the role.
Format: On letterhead of registered medical practitioner, signed and stamped. Should specifically state "fit for physically demanding employment".
Where to get it: Any registered MBBS doctor at a clinic, hospital OPD, or health centre. Cost typically ₹100–₹300.
5. Educational Certificates (Mandatory)
- Latest marksheet (most recent semester/year)
- University ID card or bonafide certificate
- Degree certificate (if already graduated)
Purpose: Verifies your academic eligibility and university affiliation.
6. Bank Account Details (For Stipend Processing)
Why required: Stipend (where applicable) is paid directly to your bank account. Account must be in your name — joint accounts or family member accounts are not accepted.
What to submit: A cancelled cheque or bank passbook front page showing your name, account number, and IFSC code.
For PM Internship Scheme eligibility: Your bank account must be Aadhaar-linked for DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) to work.
7. Police Verification Certificate (Required at Some Airports)
Some airports — particularly those requiring airside access — may require a police character verification certificate. InternAVIA will inform you specifically if this is required for your assigned airport.
How to get it: Apply at your local police station or through your state's online portal. Processing time varies: 7–30 days depending on your state.
Upload vs Physical Copy
InternAVIA collects documents digitally through your student dashboard. Upload clear, colour scans (not phone camera photos taken on an angle). PDFs and JPEGs are both accepted. Maximum file size: 5 MB per document.
Your assigned airport may additionally request physical copies on your first day. Carry originals and two sets of photocopies on Day 1.
