The boarding clock: from gate open to doors closed

Gate team in position

Agents sign in to the flight at the gate, check the passenger numbers, the assistance list and any messages from the crew or the supervisor, and make sure the gate screen shows the right flight.

Example timings in minutes before departure. Every airline sets its own.

Move through the stages of boarding to see what each time means for a host walking a guest to the gate. This example is fictional; times differ between airlines and flights.

What is included

Illustrated lessons across five modules, four workplace scenarios, practice quizzes and written activities with answer guidance.

Not covered, and taught by employers after hiring: the airport entry pass and security awareness training; the employer’s booking system and local procedures; handling wheelchairs and other mobility equipment; first aid; airline check-in systems.
